Lantu Island in Hongkong
Lantu Island in Hongkong (For Package and booking please write uholidays@gmail.com or 24 X 7 09213531173 www.uniqueholidays.info) Lantau IslandThroughout Lantau Island, the beautiful scenery and famous historical sites are truly fascinating. There is a chain of mountains that stretches from the higher elevations in the west to the lower ridges in the east. The highest peak in the mountain range is Phoenix Mountain, standing 935 meters (102, 2 yards) high. It is the second highest peak in all of Hong Kong. The most popular attraction for tourists visiting Lantau Island is climbing Phoenix Mountain to view and admire the sunrise. Tourists often climb up at night, and reach the top before the daybreak. It's steep in places so tourists should be well prepared before setting out. Bring a flashlight. There are 47 villages on Lantau Island. Three of them, MuiWo, Tai O, and Tung Chung are being developed as new towns. In addition, more than 78.4 square kilometers (30.3 square miles) of the island has been designated as Wild Countryside Park. Tai O, also known as "The Venice of the Orient", is the largest settlement on Lantau Island. Crisscrossing canals run the length and breadth of the small fishing harbor. In addition, homes built on stilts over the water are a common sight here. Tai O was once a garrison town but has now become a peaceful fishing harbor. Salted fish is a local specialty. Tai O was once the largest city on the island. In the 1970s, Tai O started to attract holiday visitors, and today the town is prosperous and busy. You can participate in many outdoor activities in the Wild Countryside Park such as hiking, camping, swimming, and fishing. Or you can have a barbecue in the mountains far from the hustle and bustle of the towns. The most beautiful beaches in Hong Kong are scattered along the southern coast, the area around Cheung Chauisland, and the vicinity of Tai O, which is about 3.2 kilometres (2 miles), --20 minutes by bus--from MuiWo. After one of the most advanced new airports in the world, Hong Kong International Airport, was opened on a man-made island in northern part of Lantau Island in 1998, your coming to Lantau Island becomes more convenient. On Sep 12th, 2005 Hong Kong Disneyland will open to public, after your eyes being delighted in the natural beauty of Lantau Island, you may pay a visit there. The tranquil, natural environment and Hong Kong Disneyland will make Lantau Island a popular spot for not only nature lovers and hikers but who like large entertainment parks as well. Cost : Adult @ USD 70 Per Person Child (03 -11 Years old ) @ USD 50 Per child Duration : 04 Hours Cost Includes : Half day Lantu Tour with Ngong Ping 360 Cable car Ngong Ping Village and Po Lin Monastery Pickup time from Hotel 1100 AM Ngong Ping 360 Hong Kong's newest tourist attraction combines a spectacular 5.7 km cable car journey that takes in an impressive cultural themed village and the Tian Tan Buddha. At the themed village there are a couple of attractions. The Walking with Buddha attraction gives an interesting introduction to Buddha, and has different stages, with headphones giving the narration in a variety of languages. The Monkey's Tail is simply a silent animated movie, with a simple moral. A little trivial overall. Combined tickets can be bought to cover all three attractions. There are about 10 restaurants in the village, serving a variety of food, all a little on the expensive side for what they are. There are some other restaurants in the true village, beyond the themed section. The cable car station is adjacent to the Tung Chung MTR. Note that there are often lengthy queues to go up the mountain, especially on weekends - if the queue extends downstairs, expect a two hour wait. To avoid you can take a bus up the mountain and the cable car back (queues are much shorter, especially if buying the Crystal Cabin). Alternatively, buy a guided tour or the Journey to Enlightenment package, both of which bypass most of the queue for the cheaper tickets Po Lin Monastery Ngong Ping (below the Tian Tan Buddha). The monastery was founded in 1906 by three monks from Jiangsu Province. The main temple building houses three bronze statues representing the Buddha of the past, present and future. It is 25 minutes away by cable car from Tung Chung town centre
About Boudhanath in Nepal
About Boudhanath in Nepal (For Tour Package uholidays@gmail.com or www.uniqueholidays.info ) Boudhanath is among the largest stupas in South Asia, and it has become the focal point of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. The white mound looms thirty-six meters overhead. The stupa is located on the ancient trade route to Tibet, and Tibetan merchants rested and offered prayers here for many centuries. When refugees entered Nepal from Tibet in the 1950s, many of them decided to live around Bouddhanath. They established many gompas, and the "Little Tibet" of Nepal was born. This "Little Tibet" is still the best place in the Valley to observe Tibetan lifestyle. Monks walk about in maroon robes. Tibetans walk with prayer wheels in their hands, and the rituals of prostration are presented to the Buddha as worshippers circumambulate the stupa on their hands and knees, bowing down to their lord. Many people believe that Bouddhanath was constructed in the fifth century, but definite proof is lacking. The stupa is said to entomb the remains of a Kasyap sage who is venerable both to Buddhists and Hindus. One legend has it that a woman requested a Valley king for the donation of ground required to build a stupa. She said she needed land covered by one buffalo's skin and her wish was granted by the King. She cut a buffalo skin into thin strips and circled off a fairly large clearing. The king had no choice but to give her the land. The Buddha area is a visual feast. Colorful thangkas, Tibetan jewellery, hand-woven carpets, masks, and khukuri knives are sold in the surrounding stalls. Smaller stupas are located at the base. Gompa monasteries, curio shops, and restaurants surround Bouddhanath. Conveniently situated restaurants with roof-top patios provide good food and excellent views of Bouddhanath.
